Robert Gerber
President, Architect

Robert, a licensed architect since 1987, brings over 38 years of
experience managing commercial and ecclesiastical projects. Originally from Indiana and a graduate of Ball State University, he moved to Charleston for the good weather where he founded GJS Architecture and has been faithfully serving the low country for 23 years. He leads project procurement, management, architectural design, and client services. Passionate about helping clients realize their community vision, Robert especially enjoys facilitating GJS Architecture’s Ministry Planning sessions. He takes great pride in delivering personalized service to every client.
Jacob Zeeveld
Architectural Designer
AIA Associate
Jacob has been without firm since May of 2023 promptly after he graduated from Clemson University with his B.A. of Architecture and a minor in Psychology. He is an Associate AIA member and active member of the Charleston chapter. With GJS, Jacob has personally worked on 24 church and ministry projects, taking the church’s dreams and making them into reality to further His Kingdom. Outside of work, his fiancé and him take care of their two tuxedo cats. Besides architecture, his interests include collecting vinyl records, working on his family’s 1939 Ford Coupe and searching estate sales for vintage finds. Jacob’s commitment to our team and clients is evident in all he does here at GJS!
Abigail Richardson
Architectural Designer

Abigail started interning with GJS in the summer of 2022 during her undergraduate degree at Clemson University, working every summer and winter until graduation. After obtaining her Bachelor’s in Architecture, she returned as a full-time member of the team with a love for graphic representation of designs and marketing efforts through online presence. She especially loves working with clients to meet their needs and designs centered around community. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Architecture and certificate in design build with the Clemson Design Center in Charleston, while still working with GJS Architecture. Abigail has brought lots of valued insight to our team!
Cody Arnold
Revit Technician
Cody started with GJS in August of 2022 with a background in drafting, mechanical design and computer aided design. Cody has his Associates from Trident Technical College in Engineering Design Graphics. He has a special skill of problem solving and often does the office troubleshooting for technical and logistical problems. He is a local to Charleston and loves the history of the area. Cody has a passion for helping clients visions come to life and outside of the office enjoys sports, spending time with friends/family, video games and site-seeing in the low country. Cody has been a valued member of the team for these past years!
Carlos Richardson
Architectural Designer
AIA Associate
Carlos was brought on last fall while he is pursuing his Master’s in Architecture and the design build certificate at the Clemson Design Center in Charleston. He also received his Bachelor's in Architecture from Clemson University in 2024 with his minor in Sociology. Carlos first chose this career path because of his background in art and especially enjoys designing with people in mind. He moved to Charleston for the range of opportunities available here and enjoys the urban climate. His many hobbies include drawing, sports, reading and music. He is a joy to have in the office while he pursues his certificate in design build!
Liza Edgar
Interior Design
Liza has been apart of our team since June of 2025 after graduating from Anderson University with her Bachelor’s in Interior Design with a minor in Art. She is currently working towards her NCIDQ certificate and brings valued insights on interior architecture to our firm. Liza chose the field because of both her creative and technical sides of her brain, with an appreciation for designs that leave an impact, no matter the proportion. In her free time, Liza enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. She also loves cozying up with her dog, a blanket and doing hobbies like sewing and knitting. Liza has been a joy to have in office!
Sydney Szypszak
Architectural Designer

Sydney joined our firm in the Fall of 2025, brought on after her graduation from Keene State College in the Spring of 2025, where she acquired her Bachelor’s in Architecture with a minor in Construction Management. Tired of the New Hampshire snow, Sydney relocated to the Charleston area for the warmer weather and a change of pace. Within the field of architecture, Sydney enjoys commercial and community designs and especially loves designs that promote engagement and interaction. Sydney also loves music, both guitar and singing, as well as hiking. We are happy to have her as part of the team!
